Introduction to Anticlastic
Class Date: Thursday July 14th
Time: 9:30 – 4:30pm
Instructor: Jennifer Wolfe / Katlyn Sumpton
What is anticlastic forming? In this class, you will learn foundational techniques about how metal moves to create volume from a flat sheet with a hammer and stake. This workshop is intended to introduce you to the tools and basic technique of anticlastic forming.
Join us for our 1-day workshop where you will learn how to form hoop earrings using anticlastic tools; you will also learn to make an anticlastic cuff bracelet out of a flat sheet of metal by forming and compressing the metal using hammer and stake and turn it into a 3-dimensional piece of jewellery.
You will work with a torch to anneal the metal, use specialty tools to form the bracelet and earrings and finish with polishing and using patinas. With small class sizes you will have the opportunity to have in-depth lessons and more one-on-one assistance.
All of the materials and equipment are provided for this class and no experience is necessary.
Please wear close-toed shoes, comfortable clothes, your hair tied back.
Workshop Fee: $195.00 +HST per person, includes kit fee for materials, consumables.
