Class Outline:

Titanium is an amazing alloy – light weight, strong and hypoallergenic. Titanium can transform to an array of marvelous colours.

The Introduction to Titanium workshop is intended to familiarize students with an understanding of titanium, its physical and working properties, as well as how to transform titanium into a piece of jewellery. Students will learn how to create wearable pieces of art using techniques and tools such as piercing, sawing, the hydraulic press and cold connecting with riveting. A variety of colouring techniques will be explored to add dynamic and impactful contrasting elements.

In this 1 day workshop students will experiment with texture using hammers, the flex shaft and/or roller printing as well as integrating dimension utilizing the hydraulic press, then the fun begins with colouring. Each piece can be one or multiple colours.

Using a torch or controlled electric voltages through an anodizer, students create a rainbow of colours with stencils, painting, scribes, and masks. After anodizing is complete, students will explore how the titanium can be finished as earrings, bracelets or pendants, or as an element that can be incorporated into a design using other metals.

Colours available are blue, magenta, shifting purple, teal, spring green, gold, and rose gold.

With small class sizes you will have the opportunity to have in-depth lessons and more one-on-one assistance.

All of the materials and equipment are provided for this class and no experience is necessary.

Please wear close-toed shoes, comfortable clothes, your hair tied back.

Payment Details

Workshop Fee: $195.00 +HST per person, includes kit fee for materials, consumables.

A signed waiver will be required to proceed in any workshop.

Minimum age of workshop participation is 16. 

Minimum 3 students must be registered for the course to run.  Maximum 8 students.

Class Cancellation Policy:

If you need to cancel, please let us know 5 days prior to the class. Cancellations made later than that will forfeit the class deposit or fee.

We may reschedule or cancel classes if we do not receive the minimum number of bookings, or in case of bad weather or instructor illness. In this case, you will be notified and the fees will be refunded.
