Description

Introduction to Metalsmithing – Level 2 / 3

Class Date: Monday June 6, 13, 20, 27th

Time: 6:00 to 9:00pm

Instructor:  Jennifer Wolfe

Class Outline: This Beginner Metalsmithing class introduces students to traditional jewellery making techniques, where you will learn skills such as sawing, piercing, forming, hammering, roller printing, stone setting and soldering. 

Students will use a rolling mill, oxygen/propane torch, disc cutters, jewellers saw, polishing machine, pliers and hammers to create their own unique pieces. 

Students must have prior soldering experience to take this class or the first level Introduction to Metalsmithing evening workshop before attempting this class.  

During this 4 week class, participants will learn to create a pair of earrings, bezel set ring or pendant, Level 3 students will work on more complicated projects – square wire bracelet, advanced level bezel set project.

Students can expect to walk away with 2-3 pieces of completed work with the 15 grams of silver included in the course fee.

Payment Details

Workshop Fee: $390.00 +HST per person, includes kit fee for materials, consumables. 

Registration & Cancellation Policy

A signed waiver will be required to proceed in any workshop.

Minimum age of workshop participation is 18. 

Minimum 2 students must be registered for the course to run.  Maximum 6 students.

COVID Safety precautions – Since the mask mandate is now over, it is up to each student as to whether they would like to wear a mask or not.  Each workstation has their own designated tools/equipment with limited overlapping equipment to ensure safety.

Class Cancellation Policy:

If you need to cancel, please let us know 5 days prior to the class. Cancellations made later than that will forfeit the class deposit or fee.

We may reschedule or cancel classes if we do not receive the minimum number of bookings, or in case of bad weather or instructor illness. In this case, you will be notified and the fees will be refunded.
