Class Outline: Learning to solder silver is the start of your journey into the world of metalwork. In this class you will learn how to solder circles of silver wire and transform them into stacking rings.
In this workshop students are given strips of sterling silver wire and are guided by our in-house goldsmith through the process of making simple silver band rings. Choose between making bands with hammered texture or a non-textured surface or both.
We will begin with an overview of safety concerns, soldering tools, materials and techniques. Then we will fire up our torches and learn how to solder jump rings. Some metalwork finishing techniques will be discussed.
Skill level: Beginner
Prerequisite: N/A
Technique: Soldering silver
Bring to class: Magnification, if required. Bring a lunch.
Safety considerations: As we are using torches, safety is a major concern. Please wear long sleeves, long pants and closed shoes. Please tie all long hair back and do not wear any loose bracelets or necklaces. If you have any magnifying or reading glasses bring them along. Safety glasses and an apron will be provided.
Payment Details
Workshop Fee: $195 plus HST, includes kit cost of all material needed for the workshop.

A signed waiver will be required to proceed in any workshop.
Minimum age of workshop participation is 16.
Minimum of 3 students must be registered for the course to run, maximum of 6.
COVID Safety precautions – It is up to the students discretion if they would like to wear a mask or not. Each workstation has their own designated tools/equipment with limited overlapping equipment to ensure safety.
Bring a lunch or there are plenty of places within a short driving distance that you can purchase food from – Tim Hortons, Freshii, McDonalds, Pita Pit etc.
Class Cancellation Policy:
If you need to cancel or reschedule a class, our cancellation policy depends on the time until the scheduled class:
- Up to a week, a refund will be issued minus a $15 cancellation fee, or a credit will be given to attend a future workshop. Workshop credits must be used within a 60-day period after cancellation, or it will be forfeited.
- Within 48 hours, no refund or credit is given.
We may reschedule or cancel classes if we do not receive the minimum number of bookings, or in case of bad weather or instructor illness. In this case, you will be notified and the fees will be refunded.
